Florida Global University drives academic innovation in its University Council June 2025

On June 5, Florida Global University held its 3rd Ordinary University Council, a key space where academic authorities and directors discussed strategic advances for institutional development.

This meeting was presided over by our Rector-President, Dr. José Gerardo Guarisma Jr, followed by our CEO, MSc. Pedro Cabrera and our Provost, Dr. Cira de Pelekais, accompanied by our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Deans, Dr. Yosella Valdez and Dr. María Medina, as well as the Director of Admissions, Registration and Students, M.Ed. Haydee Irausquin, the Director of Accreditation and Development, M.Ed. Roberto Perezalonso and the Coordinator of Internationalization, Eng. Souraya Rivas.

Strengthening of Research and Academic Publications

One of the central points of the meeting was the presentation of the FGU Research Center 2025 Procedures Manual, a fundamental tool for standardizing research processes within the university. In addition, it was announced the implementation of new indexing strategies and the use of the DOI in academic publications, facilitating the visibility and recognition of studies produced by professors and students.

Expanding Teacher Training and Development

Significant progress was made in the area of education. The consolidation of the Classroom Training Program was addressed, designed to improve the training of Admissions and Internalization personnel, reinforcing the quality of education in these processes. The growth of the Diploma and Specialization Programs in Virtual Education, a commitment to continuing education and learning in digital environments, was also reviewed.

Optimization of Institutional Resources

Another key theme was the strengthening of the Program to Encourage the use of the FGU Library, with initiatives aimed at improving accessibility and the use of academic resources. In addition, the implementation of the contracted CRM, a system designed to optimize university management and improve the administrative experience of students and staff, was evaluated.

Graduation and International Expansion Proposals

Three graduation ceremonies per year-Spring, Summer and Fall-were proposed, allowing for a hybrid format, with in-person and virtual events scheduled for December. Finally, the expansion of internationalization activities was presented, including mirror classes, strategic visits and discussions with partner universities, strengthening FGU’s global presence.

These advances reflect Florida Global University ‘s commitment to innovation, academic growth and educational excellence. Each initiative strengthens the path towards quality education and a university community that is more connected to the world.
